The Energy Performance Certificate is a European Union Initiative introduced as part of the plan to improve energy efficiency across the EU member countries. A commercial EPC provides a record of the energy efficiency of a property. An EPC is required when a property is built, sold, rented or marketed. Buildings are assessed on a scale of A to G (A being the most efficient; and G being the least.) An official report will include:
- A Certificate number
- Address
- Technical Information
- Benchmarks
- Assessor details
- Issue Date
- Recommendations report.
For the purpose of an EPC Commercial buildings are divided into 3 levels; 3,4, & 5. The nature and complexity of the property will determine what level it should be assessed under.
